Position summary:
The Academic Advisor for Health Sciences provides accurate information in the advising process including the following: career exploration, course selection, graduation requirements, articulation, and transfer information, and career readiness preparation while considering the prominence of student retention for students seeking admittance to their chosen career program. The advisor demonstrates a good understanding of each pathway in the division and the necessary prerequisites for admittance to each selective admission program within the division of Health Sciences. The primary focus of the advisor will be to assist students with selection of course(s) for educational goal, course scheduling and degree audits to ensure progress towards student success, graduation, or re-direction to a different pathway if not selected to program of choice. Retention efforts will include holistic advising, referral to appropriate student supports, provide information regarding program of student interest, proper course sequence, and specific monitoring of progress of student who are not in college level coursework, and guidance to new program options as applicable if student is not chosen for their primary program of interest. The new advisor will collaborate with their fellow divisional advisor(s) and the Director of Academic Advising to focus efforts for student success of students within this division. All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Federal law prohibits the employment of unauthorized aliens. All persons hired must submit satisfactory proof of employment authorization and identity within three (3) days of being hired. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
