Job Description
Civil Litigation Associate (NC & SC Licensed)
Location: Charlotte, NC- Experience: 1-3 Years
The Opportunity
We are seeking a driven Civil Litigation Associate to join a dynamic team handling a sophisticated range of matters. This isn't a "back-office" research role-you will be on the front lines, managing cases from inception through resolution. Whether you are an Associate, Special Counsel, or Of Counsel (depending on your level of experience), you will work closely with 1-3 dedicated Partners who provide hands-on mentoring while giving you the autonomy to develop your own legal strategy.
The Work
You will tackle a diverse portfolio including commercial litigation, regulatory issues, product and premises liability, construction defects, and insurance coverage. Your day-to-day will involve:
* Court Appearances: Representing clients in both State and Federal courts.
* Strategic Litigation: Drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs; conducting depositions; and developing winning case strategies.
* Discovery & Fact-Finding: Managing all phases of discovery and building a robust factual record.
* Client Advocacy: Maintaining direct communication with clients and providing regular updates to managing attorneys.
Qualifications
* Dual Licensure: Active license to practice law in both North Carolina and South Carolina (Mandatory).
* Experience: 1-3 years of civil litigation experience.
* Skillset: Exceptional research and writing capabilities are non-negotiable. We are looking for a "trial-ready" mindset with a talent for depositions and oral advocacy.
The Numbers & Culture
* Billing: A very reasonable 1,750 annual billable hour requirement.
* Bonuses: Bonus eligibility begins at 1,850 hours.
* Environment: Enjoy an in-office setting with Hybrid flexibility available following an initial in-office training period.
Comprehensive Benefits Package
We take care of our people with a benefits suite designed for modern life:
* Financial: 401K, Student Loan Repayment Assistance, HRA, and FSA.
* Health: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability insurance.
* Life/Balance: 3 weeks of PTO, Paid Holidays, and even Pet Insurance.
