The Opportunity:


Prospect Schools is seeking a Kindergarten - Second Grade (K-2 Science) Spanish Teacher. This role is pivotal in crafting a bilingual learning environment that fosters inclusivity, respect for cultural diversity, and a love for lifelong learning. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our students' academic and personal development, preparing them for a globalized world. Prospect teachers are grounded in an equity-driven approach following the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum where instruction emphasizes academic rigor, critical thinking, global mindedness, and inclusive classroom practices. As an educator at Prospect, you will be part of a collaborative and high-performing instructional team and will report directly to a member of the school leadership team.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Planning and Instruction

  • Design and deliver culturally responsive, engaging lessons that support learning in an intentionally diverse classroom and actively engage a variety of different learning styles

  • Utilize data, strong content knowledge, and effective pedagogy to plan clear, objective-driven instruction to advance learning for all students

  • Collaborate with co-teachers and instructional leaders through coaching, professional development, and, when applicable, advisory groups to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth

Classroom Environment

  • Set clear expectations and consistent routines to create a purposeful, warm, and supportive learning environment

  • Build a culturally sustaining classroom community where all students feel known, safe, valued, and respected by adults and peers

Staff Collaboration

  • Embody a “Team First” mindset by collaborating across grade level and content teams, participating in professional development, and partnering with the broader school community

  • Demonstrate a commitment to giving and receiving feedback for the purpose of continuous personal growth and betterment of the teaching and learning team

Caregiver Partnership

  • Build strong partnerships with caregivers through consistent communication and regular updates on student progress

  • Use caregiver feedback to continuously improve instruction and the overall learning experience

  • Coordinate and facilitate family meetings as needed and attend any/all school wide caregiver events

About You:

  • You have earned a Bachelors Degree.

  • You have prior language teaching experience

  • You are bilingual and/or have a deep fluency in written and spoken Spanish

  • You are in the process of earning or have earned a New York Teaching License Certification. (Learn more here)

Salary:

The salary range for this role starts at $63,960, then increases based on years of experience. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role.
