About the Department

The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics competes at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics with the vision to reach Next Level Success for all 18 varsity teams and more than 450 student-athletes. The Bearcats have a proud athletics history, winning eight national championships and 118 conference titles. The Cincinnati men's basketball team is among the 15 winningest programs all-time, while the football team became the first non-Power Five program to compete in the College Football Playoff in 2021. Job Overview

Assist the management of athlete monitoring technologies, engaging in both collaborative and independent problem-solving, and applying advanced data science approaches for assigned sports programs and while following University of Cincinnati and departmental policies, NCAA Division I, and Conference bylaws and regulations.

Essential Functions

 

  • Conduct and interpret statistical analysis.
  • Develop and maintain automated insight generation and dissemination tools.
  • Communicate insight via multiple mediums, including electronic platforms, in-person 1-on-1’s, small groups (athletes, coaches, practitioners), and large team or staff meetings.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary health and wellness team using data to generate insight and provide feedback in support of decision making.
  • Prepare and present research reviews on relevant and timely Sport Science topics.
  • Assist with database management projects integrating multiple technologies and varied data sources across assigned sports.
  • Ensure ethical and secure management of student-athlete data.
  • Oversee operational delivery of athlete monitoring protocols during training and rehabilitation sessions.
  • Design and propose new scientific protocols to enhance the existing athlete monitoring framework.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and data to further support the athlete monitoring framework.
  • Serve as co-author on peer-reviewed publications, contributing statistical analysis and manuscript writing.
  • Collaborate with UC faculty and external partners to disseminate insights to the scientific community.
  • Adapt and respond to evolving departmental needs

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise/Health Sciences, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.

Required Experience

  • One (1) year of related work experience

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Ability to conduct, interpret, and summarize independent research in Sport Science related areas.
  • Practical experience in statistical analysis, data management, coding, and data visualization, including translating findings to key stakeholders
