A warm and busy private family located in the East side of Manhattan, New York is seeking a professional, energetic, and engaging full-time nanny to care for their two school-aged children. Both parents work full time and occasionally travel for work, so they value someone dependable, proactive, and confident managing the day-to-day routine.
Children: Two children, ages 4.5 and 6.5, both attending school.
Household Staff: The family currently employs a nanny who has been very helpful with household organization and light housekeeping; however, they are seeking a long-term replacement as the current nanny is ready to transition out of the role.
The family is looking for someone who will grow with them long-term and potentially take on additional household management responsibilities as the children get older in the future.
Provide attentive, engaged childcare and create a fun, structured environment for the children.
Manage the children’s daily routines, including school drop-offs and pick-ups.
Use public transportation to navigate the city with the children and confidently plan outings and activities.
Encourage independence and responsibility by guiding the children to clean up, stay organized, and complete age-appropriate tasks.
Coordinate playdates and engaging after-school activities.
Maintain a tidy and organized household environment, including keeping children’s areas neat and using labeled baskets or systems for organization.
Handle children’s laundry and assist with light housekeeping such as general tidying, light mopping or vacuuming, and maintaining an organized home. (Deep cleaning or full bathroom cleaning is not required.)
Prepare simple snacks or meals as needed and occasionally facilitate small outings such as getting ice cream or neighborhood activities without needing constant parental approval.
The ideal candidate is energetic, proactive, and naturally engaging with children. The family is seeking someone who can make everyday routines enjoyable while maintaining gentle but firm boundaries. A successful candidate will be confident navigating the city, comfortable taking initiative, and capable of managing the children’s schedules independently.
This person should enjoy helping children build organizational habits and responsibility while creating a positive and fun environment. Strong communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to think ahead are important for success in this role.
The family values someone who is looking for a long-term position and who is excited to grow with the household over time.
